Highlights

Kanoni & Mouse Island Tour

The postcard panorama — monastery causeway, Mouse Island and lagoon views.

Duration: 3–4 hoursPace: RelaxedBest for: Photographers, first-time visitors on medium port calls and light-activity days

Kanoni offers Corfu's most iconic view: Vlacherna monastery linked by a causeway, Pontikonisi (Mouse Island) offshore, and aircraft approaching the runway beside the lagoon. Most tours add Achilleion 10 minutes uphill.

The viewpoint is 15–20 minutes from Neo Limani by taxi. Most passengers spend 30–45 minutes photographing, visiting the chapel, and optionally taking the small boat to Mouse Island.

Combining Kanoni with Achilleion is natural geography — palace gardens follow the lagoon stop. Afternoon Old Town walks work if your ship departs 18:00 or later.

Kanoni alone suits short calls or mobility-limited passengers who want maximum impact with minimal walking.

Highlights

  • Kanoni belvedere panorama
  • Vlacherna monastery chapel
  • Optional Mouse Island boat
  • Achilleion add-on on most routes

What a good tour includes

  • Transport from Neo Limani
  • Guide on most packages
  • Achilleion entry where stated

Getting there from the cruise port

Ships dock at Neo Limani (New Port), about 2 km west of Corfu Old Town. Allow 5–10 minutes by taxi to Spianada or 35–45 minutes each way for Paleokastritsa and Achilleion. Confirm your all-aboard time and keep a 60–90 minute buffer — summer traffic on the coastal road back to the port can slow returns from the northwest coast.

Tips for cruise passengers

  • Mid-morning light flatters the lagoon
  • Watch for low-flying planes — part of the spectacle
  • Skip Mouse Island boat if queues are long

Kanoni & Mouse Island Tour — FAQs

Can I walk to Kanoni from the port?

Not practical — busy roads without continuous pavement make taxi or tour the sensible choice.

Is the Mouse Island boat worth it?

A quick five-minute crossing when queues are short — skip on tight departures.
